Black Music Month

June is National Black Music Month, and Paul Robeson Library is proud to partner with the Rhythm and Blues Preservation Society of Atlantic City, New Jersey, on its inaugural nationwide academic library curation campaign that encourages diversity and inclusion by developing the study of African American Music Studies in colleges and universities. The exhibit features Black music history books curated by Mr. Perry Thompson, the Society's founder and Executive Director, along with Rev. Dr. Sonja Elise Freeman ("Queen Diva"), the Society's Artist-in-Residence and Vice President of Marketing and Communications.
   
"The Rhythm and Blues Preservation Society is truly excited to embark on a national campaign during Black Music Month. With the launch of this campaign, we hope to reach more people who will support our cause to preserve Black music culture and mission to spearhead African American Music Studies in colleges and universities by 2030," said Freeman.
   
Other colleges and universities participating in the Black Music Month curation campaign include Atlantic Cape Community College (Mays Landing and Atlantic City campuses), Bowie State University, Hampton University, Hofstra University, Jackson State University, Kansas State University, Purdue University, Seton Hall University, University of Bridgeport, University of Colorado Colorado Springs, University of Hartford, and the University of South Carolina.
