McCoyd’s research interests are perinatal health care, medical technologies, decision-making, and bereavement. She explores the decisions to use prenatal diagnostic technologies, whether to continue a pregnancy affected by fetal anomalies, and the adaptation process after that decision.
Marsh is the author of numerous articles in journals including the American Quarterly, the Journal of American History, Pennsylvania History, and of chapters in books on topics ranging from the history of motherhood to the history of masculinity. She is the co-author of The Fertility Doctor: John Rock and the Reproductive Revolution (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2008). She is the co-author of an upcoming book, IVF and Beyond: The History, Policy, and Politics of Assisted Reproduction.
