Faustino J. Fernandez-Vina
Associate Justice, New Jersey Supreme Court

The Honorable Faustino J. Fernandez-Vina has served on the New Jersey Supreme Court since 2013.  Before he was named to the state's highest court, Fernandez-Vina was appointed to the New Jersey Superior Court, Camden Vicinage, in 2004.  He first sat in the civil division of the Camden Vicinage, moving to the family division in 2006.  Fernandez-Vina was named presiding judge of the civil division in 2007 and in 2012 became the assignment judge of the Camden Vicinage.

A native of Cuba, he was formerly a partner at Capehart & Scatchard in New York City from 1993 to 1998 and Kelley, Wardell and Craig in Haddonfield from 1998 to 2004.  Fernandez-Vina served as a law clerk to Superior Court Judge E. Stevenson Fluharty before going into private practice.  He became a certified civil trial attorney and has served on the District IV Ethics Committee, the Supreme Court Committee on Character and the Supreme Court Committee on Jury Selection. While on the bench, Justice Fernandez-Vina has served on a number of committees, including the Supreme Court Ad Hoc Committee on the Code of Judicial Conduct and the Supreme Court Civil Practice Committee.

He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Camden County and Burlington County Bar Associations.  He has been a member of the executive committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Civil Trial Bar Section and served as chair of the committee from 2001 to 2003.  Fernandez-Vena served on the Supreme Court Committee on Jury Selection in Civil and Criminal Trials from 2006 to 2008, the Judicial Council Labor Relations and Personnel Committee from 2012 to 2013 and the Supreme Court Committee on Judicial Salaries and Pensions from 2008 to 2013. 

Fernandez-Vina, known by his nickname "Fuzzy," was an all-conference football player at Widener University.
