Moran’s research includes work on authentication of shrunken heads through next generation sequencing, the recovery of evidence on items submerged in water, post mortem toxicology and the detection of decomposition products in soil.

She is the director of education for the New Jersey Association of Forensic Scientists and a member of the Crime Scene Investigation subcommittee of the Organization of Scientific Area Committees for the National Forensic Science Standards Board.
