Moran’s current research includes the multidisciplinary analysis of the First Baptist Church of Philadelphia cemetery, examining ancient fingerprints from Beit Nattiff in Israel, post-mortem toxicology, and the detection of decomposition products in soil.

She is the director of the Arch Street Project in Philadelphia, a member of the American Academy of Forensic Science, coeditor of the book Forensic Archaeology (Springer Nature, 2019), a member of the Register of Professional Archaeologists, and a Fellow of the JDI Centre for the Forensic Sciences.
