The students and faculty associated with the Graduate Department have a commitment to public service as well as a commitment to education. Through internships and community activities many students work directly with residents in a community or with a non-profit service organization. Other students, who have had no experience with government or community based organizations, become interns in Departmental or student arranged situations.

Faculty are also engaged in a broad range of research activity much of it focused on Camden, south New Jersey and the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Many faculty and students work on regional projects through the Forum for Policy Research -- frequently at the request of the State Legislature, federal agencies or local government. All of this activity is directed toward meeting the Graduate Department's goal of integrating education, research and public service.
