                     Fall 2004 Schedule of Research Project Dates

  Sept. 15___ Research Project Idea Due

Class members should turn in a statement of one or more ideas for a research project. These ideas can be very general; a specific project can emerge in discussion with the instructor. A set of times for student-instructor meetings will be circulated, and students must schedule a time to meet with the instructor to review the general idea.

  Oct. 6___ Research Project Focus & References Due

Class members should turn in a description of a specific question that will be studied in the research project and a list of references that pertain to this focus.

  Oct. 27___ Research Project Final Design Due

Class members should turn in their final design for their project.  The design will include a description of the participants, the materials, the research methods, and the research design.  Class members will also demonstrate their completion of the Human Subjects Certification course.

  Nov. 29___ First Draft of Project Report Due

A rough draft of the final research project report is due by 6 pm. The draft will be returned with comments as soon as possible.

  Dec. 16___ Final Draft of Project Report

A final draft of the final research project report is due by 6 pm.

  Dec.  21___ Research Symposium I,  6:00 - 9:00

 

Presentation of research to the class and invited guests as part of a research symposium.
