thesis on Thomas M. Mulry, cousin of William P. Mulry, Dearest's father.
In 1838 the four sons of Patrick and Winifred née Larkin came to NYC from Galway, William P. (our ancester), Lawrence, Michael, and the youngest, Thomas. (According to Dearest, their mother Winifred brought two nephews also, Michael and James.) William had one son, William Jr. who was Dearest's father. He was born in Charleston SC in 1853. According to Dearest, William Sr. moved to Charleston but moved back to NYC due to bitter anti-Catholicism in SC.:

On page 14 of Helmes' book there is reference to Fr. Joseph Mulry S.J. who was a cousin of Dearest (Tanta Babe). Fr. Joe died in the Philippines during W.W.II. The following three pages are from a letter from Fr. Vincent O'Beirne S.J. to another cousin, Mary.

These three pages contain the listing of our Mulry family tree. Thomas Mulry, portrait (whose wife was Parthenia Crolius, portrait ca.1880) was the brother of our direct ancester, William (b. 1820, Galway, Ireland).
