undergraduate scholarships for new students

Incoming first-year students for the fall semester are awarded scholarships on the Rutgers-Camden campus on the basis of academic performance in high school. First-year students who apply and complete their application for admission by the priority deadline of Dec. 1 are automatically considered for merit-based awards.

  • Academic Excellence Scholarships
These awards are made to high-achieving first-year full time students who meet scholarships standards. Students who meet these criteria, based primarily on SATs and class rank, will be offered an Academic Excellence Scholarship. These students will be automatically invited to enroll in the Rutgers-Camden Honors College. All students with an outstanding academic record will be reviewed for scholarship eligibility.
  • University Scholarships for First-Year Students
Scholarships of varying amounts are available to bright and talented students who choose Rutgers-Camden for their college education. In order to be considered for these scholarships, students are required to apply by the priority deadline of December 1, 2009.

In addition to the scholarships described above, scholarships are awarded to a select group of students based on their potential contribution to Rutgers’ vibrant and diverse community. We include the following in our assessment: academic credentials, specialized talents, extracurricular activities, leadership, community service, work experience, awards, honors, and criteria such as socioeconomic background, attendance in New Jersey’s Abbott School Districts, and the relevance of the response to the essay question which must be submitted with the application.

Undergraduate Scholarships for Current Students

Scholarships for continuing students are usually awarded at the departmental level. Scholarship information is posted on the first floor of Armitage Hall, across from Room 121. The Financial Aid Office will send email messages advising students as scholarship opportunities become available. Not every scholarship listed is awarded annually.
