Prospective Students
Participate in one of the many ways to make positive change while building lifetime skills at Rutgers Camden.
As a public research university, Rutgers–Camden provides students with opportunities to learn by engaging directly with the challenges facing Camden and the region. Through academic courses and programs, along with co-curricular experiences, Rutgers–Camden students become active participants in making positive change. Along the way, our students build skills that will serve them well in their lives as professionals and as members of communities.
Rutgers–Camden students can get involved by taking courses that include engaged civic learning. Students in some courses conduct research for a community organization. In other courses, students do hands-on service work that enhances their learning. Students can also participate in volunteer service, internships, or paid work as tutors for students in local schools.

For faculty seeking to connect civic engagement to their teaching and research, examples of available support include:
- Consultation with OCE staff on opportunities and approaches.
- Implementation assistance by OCE staff.
- Chancellor’s Grants for Civic Engagement: These are small grants to support course development and implementation. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
