It is with deep appreciation for a career that has energized Scarlet Raptors and Pioneers everywhere that we report that Chuck Mannella CCAS ‘70, director of alumni relations, has decided to retire from Rutgers.
Since November 2002, Chuck has been a driving force behind our continuing efforts to engage Rutgers–Camden’s graduates in the life of our campus and the entire university. He has done so with unfailing enthusiasm, extraordinary good humor, and an innate ability to identify and nurture meaningful connections to Rutgers.
During his tenure at Rutgers–Camden, Chuck’s leadership imbued new energy into both Homecoming and Reunion, transforming these annual activities into must-attend events for our alumni and the entire campus community. He worked collaboratively with academic and administrative units to develop opportunities to connect current students with alumni. Thanks to those efforts, alumni are part of the daily fabric of our campus life. Through Chuck’s initiatives, Rutgers–Camden graduates are engaged in an alumni network that is stronger than ever before. Activities such as the annual River LINE Cultural Tour and the Night at the Opera are just two examples of how Chuck expanded our alumni outreach.
As a member of the Rutgers University Alumni Association team, Chuck has shared the Rutgers–Camden perspective in a university-wide context. His contributions have helped to shape the overall dialogue about alumni relations at Rutgers.
Chuck is known as an enthusiastic colleague willing to do what it takes to help advance our institution. His passion and drive have motivated legions of alumni, as well as current students, faculty, staff, and friends. Thanks to Chuck’s focus, the Rutgers–Camden experience is strengthened for all who value our campus.
We will continue to build upon Chuck’s work as we seek new opportunities to engage our graduates and to welcome them back to their campus.
Chuck has indicated that his last day in the office will be Jan. 7, 2013. Please join us in thanking Chuck for his lifelong commitment to Rutgers–Camden, and in expressing our deep appreciation for the legacy that he provides us. We know that you join us in wishing him well.
