Marie Chevrier Participates in U.N. Civil Forum on Disarmament

Dr. Marie Chevrier (professor, public policy) participated in a United Nations event, a Civil Society Forum in support of Security Council resolution 1540 (2004) in Vienna, Austria, during Jan. 8 to 10.  The meeting was hosted by the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs.

The Civil Society Forum involved more than 50 organizations from the non-governmental, academic, think tank and industrial sectors.  Participants included representatives from Asia, Africa, Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.

The meeting focused on the pursuit of the shared goal of nuclear disarmament and a world free of weapons of mass destruction, including through implementation of U.N. resolution 1540 (2004).

The Rutgers–Camden scholar is a member of the board of directors of the BioWeapons Prevention Project.  Chevrier contributed to that organization’s recent report, BioWeapons Monitor 2012
