Nearly 20 years before women could even vote in the United States, Mary Philbrook of Jersey City was admitted to the New Jersey Bar. The social justice pioneer continues to be honored at Rutgers Law–Camden as an annual public interest award in her name will recognize two leading advocates for pro bono efforts in the Garden State.
 
At 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, the Women’s Law Caucus at Rutgers Law–Camden will present the 2013 Mary Philbrook Public Interest Award to the Hon. Virginia Long, former associate justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court. Eve Biskind Klothen, former assistant dean of the pro bono and public interest program at Rutgers Law–Camden, will also be honored.
