In collaboration with a range of campus and community partners, and supported by Campus Compact, the Office of Civic Engagement will host a day of service and reflection to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

To participate, visit http://www.camden.rutgers.edu/webform/mlk-service-day, which also provides detailed descriptions of the service opportunities and a schedule of the day’s activities.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided, as will round-trip transportation between the campus and service sites. Office of Civic Engagement staff, working with the Rutgers-Camden Civic Scholars, will provide organization and direction for our service teams.

Members of the Rutgers-Camden community will work alongside community members and volunteers from Camden County College on projects supporting the Neighborhood Center of Camden, Urban Promise and Education Works, the Camden Board of Education, Lifting Up Camden’s Youth (LUCY) Outreach, Twin Oaks Community Services, Cathedral Kitchen, and our own Hill Family Center for College Access. Through these projects, Rutgers-Camden is participating in a national challenge to engage at least 230 volunteers in service that reflects the legacy and work of Dr. King.

If you have any questions about the projects or the day of service for volunteers of all ages, please contact Tom Dahan in the Office of Civic Engagement at tom.dahan@camden.rutgers.edu, 225-2710 or visit http://www.camden.rutgers.edu/webform/mlk-service-day.
