Dr. Robert L. Thompson
Dr. Thompson is recognized as a leader in downtown revitalization and historic preservation planning. Since 1989, he has been a Senior Historic Preservation Specialist for the City of Camden. He administered both the Historic Preservation Commission and Architectural Review Committee. His responsibilities included reviewing exterior treatments to historic buildings and new construction in the Waterfront Urban Renewal Area. Dr. Thompson is affiliated with the Camden County Historical Society and the New Jersey Historic Sites Council. Since 1992, Dr. Robert L. Thompson has been an instructor for Rutgers University, Camden. He teaches Architectural History and Historic Preservation Planning in both the Urban Studies and Graduate History Departments. Between 1994 and 1998 he was the managing editor and feature writer of the Burlington Story. Some of these manuscripts include "Burlington Biographies- a local history through the Burlington County Historical Society" (Burlington, NJ), "A Survey of Town Lot No.6" (Burlington, NJ); "The Isaac Collins Print Shop", (Burlington, NJ), "A History of the Reilly-Garwood House", (Medford, NJ), "Origins of Succasunna Village to 1810" (Roxbury Township, NJ). Dr. Thompson attended Temple University, were he received his Master's
in Political Science. He received his Ph.D. from the The University of
Delaware in "Making the American City" and in "The Art of Michelagelo".
