Ayo Ayorinde


 

Ayo Ayorinde holds a B.S. Degree in Urban Geography from Ibadan University, a M.Sc. Degree in City Planning from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania.  Working as the Chief Landscape Architect for the City of Camden since 1992, and several architectural firms prior to that, he has extensive experience in the field of urban planning, particularly GIS (Geographic Information System).  He has authored and co-authored many professional studies and reports, including the “City of Camden Urban Parks & Recreation Recovery Action Plan” in 1994, and received several honors, including the Honorable Mention Award (Land Reclamation Project) by the ASLA in 1987. 

He began his career as a Senior Land Planner with Benna Assocs., Architects & Planners in Zaria in 1982, followed by a position as Landscape Architect for the Delta Group, Landscape Architects & Engineers in Philadelphia in 1987.  After working for the Camden Redevelopment Agency as the Senior Landscape Architect between 1988 and 1991, he took the
position as Chief Landscape Architect for the City of Camden in 1992.  He has extensive experience in the area of Park Planning and Management, which includes development and maintenance of CAD (Computer Aided Design) and GIS based databases, the preparation of grant applications to both Federal and State funding programs, and the facilitation of neighborhood based community meetings. Ayo Ayorinde has ample experience in the teaching field, and has taught part-time at Rutgers University Camden since 1991.  Since 1996, Ayo Ayorinde has taught GIS courses on both intermediate and advanced levels, as well as an Urban Ecology and Planning class.
