TOPIC: Is There a War
on Terror?
Is there something called the "war on terror"? I argue that this is a
misnomer. Radical Islam--and not terror or the Islamic religion--is the enemy.
I will show that (1) it is the great ideological challenge of our time, akin to
fascism and communism in their day; (2) that it has two wings, the violent and
the lawful; and that (3) the West's goal must be to defeat this ideology and
help replace it with a moderate form of Islam.
