The dual degree program allows students to save time
and money, approximately $3,360.00 in graduate tuition, and earn a
significant competitive career advantage by graduating with an advanced
Rutgers degree. As a dual degree graduate student, you would have the
option of enrolling in one graduate course in each semester of your
undergraduate senior year that would count as both an undergraduate
degree requirement and a graduate degree requirement. This would allow
you to work on your graduate degree while satisfying your undergraduate
requirements. After completing your bachelor’s degree, you would
only need 8 extra classes to have your Master of Arts in Liberal
Studies degree from Rutgers-Camden (or Rutgers-ACCC).
The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies is a unique degree
program within the School of Arts and Sciences. It was established in
1994 to provide students the opportunity for cross-disciplinary studies
in a small classroom settings. It is a 30 credit hour (10 classes) M.A.
program offering a broad range of courses in literature, history,
philosophy, religion, the social sciences, and the arts. Classes meet
during convenient late afternoon and early evening hours. All classes
are offered at the Rutgers-Camden campus as well as at the Atlantic
Cape Community College (ACCC) location. Faculty come from
Rutgers-Camden’s several fields of graduate study and are
world-class leaders in their disciplines. Students enter with a
diversity of academic and professional backgrounds and have gone on to
prestigious Ph.D. programs and enhanced or new careers.
