Requirements for the Minor

The Latin American Studies minor requires a minimum of six courses (18 credits). Students interested in the minor must complete a core of three courses (9 credits) consisting of:

  • 50:590:210 Introduction to Latin American Studies (once a year)
  • 50:940:121 Intermediate Spanish I (every Fall), and
  • either 50:512:211 or 50:512:212 Latin American History I or II.

The remaining three courses will be selected from the following list:

  • 50:082:485 Latin American Art and Culture
  • 52:620:369 The Management of Multinational Business*
  • 52:630:371 International Marketing
  • 50:790:211 Introduction to International Politics

  • 50:920:316 Race and Ethnicity
  • 50:920:370 Globalization and Social Change
  • 50:525:121 Special Topics: Brazilian Society
  • 50:940:122 Intermediate Spanish II
  • 50:940:151 Civilization of the Spanish People
  • 50:940:203 Spanish Composition and Conversation
  • 50:940:208 Spanish American Culture and Civilization
  • 50:940:225 Spanish for Business
  • 50:940:226 Spanish for the Legal Professions
  • 50:940:227 Spanish for the Health Professions
  • 50:940:301 Introduction to Spanish American Literature
