• Catholc Encyclopedia online (allow for age and bias, but this can be a very useful reference for Chruch-related topics)
• MLA Bibliography This is the place to start searches for topics in literature and language; but it is not so good for Virgil and other ancient authors, for which Humanities Abstracts may be better.
• Humanities Abstracts. General index for humanities-related topics, an alternative to MLA and BHA, and better than MLA for ancient authors.
• Bibliography of the History of Art This is the place to start searches for topics in the history of art.
• JSTOR A database of actual journal articles online, from several major journals in the humanities, as well as other fields.
• Index of Christian Art. Attempt to catalog ALL ancient and medieval Christian art. Database can be searched online; some images available online. Visit the Index in Princeton to find thousands of photographs on file.
• Bible Browser. Complete Bible, in several English translations and Latin Vulgate, searchable by text string or chapter and verse.
• The Perseus Digital Library. Outstanding resource for the study of classical antiquity, with a large number of Latin and Greek texts, in orginal and translation, dictionaries, images, etc.
