1. The definite article.
| masculine | neuter | feminine | plural | |
| nominative | der | das | die | die |
| accusative | den | das | die | die |
| dative | --------- | ---------- | ---------- | --------- |
| genitive | ---------- | ---------- | ---------- | --------- |
2. The ein-wordparadigm,
shown through the indefinite article, with kein in the plural.
| masculine | neuter | feminine | plural | |
| nominative | ein | ein | eine | keine |
| accusative | einen | ein | eine | keine |
| dative | --------- | ---------- | ---------- | --------- |
| genitive | ---------- | ---------- | ---------- | --------- |
3. The ein-word endings.
| masculine | neuter | feminine | plural | |
| nominative | --e | --e | ||
| accusative | --en | --e | --e | |
| dative | --------- | ---------- | ---------- | --------- |
| genitive | ---------- | ---------- | ---------- | --------- |
To create a form of any ein-word, just
add the endings to the stem. Ein-words are ein,
kein, and the possessive adjectives--mein,
dein,
sein,
ihr,
unser,
and euer.
There is no need to separately memorize a table like #2 for each ein-word,
although it might be useful to do that while studying. (In the online version
of this handout, you can click on each of the above ein-words to see all
its forms.)
4. The personal pronouns.
