Glossary of terms used in course

secondary sources, primary sources. As used
in literary studies, the term "primary" source (primary literature, primary
text, etc.) refers to a literary text or other work of art--the Aeneid,
the Song of Roland, etc.--in other words to the object of our study.
"Secondary" sources (secondary literature, etc.) are scholarly interpretations,
commentaries, analyses, histories.
