Culture and Civilization

• The German Embassy and German Information Center. This is a site with a good deal of information about Germany. 
• Die Bundesregierung / The Federal Government of Germany. Official web site with all kinds of information including the elaborate on-line publication, Tatsachen über Deutschland / Facts about Germany (available in German and English). 
• Die Deutschekulturseite This is an interesting site with information about German culture, history, geography, and so forth. The content is a little superficial, certainly not academic, and has a slightly nationalistic tone in some areas. But it can be an interesting site to browse.

• Milestones in German History. From the History Page of the German Embassy web site, a list of important dates in German history, 800-1999.
• Deutsches Historisches Museum / German Historical Museum. This Berlin Museum has a remarkable website, including an outstanding on-line exhibition about 20th-century German history, the Lebendiges virtuelles Museum Online.
• 1648--Krieg und Frieden in Europa / War and Peace in Europe. The web site of an exhibition about the Thirty Years War and the Peace of Westphalia, which ended it. 

• glossen: eine internationale zeitschrift zu literatur, film und kunst seit 1945 .
• Projekt Gutenberg-DE: Die digitale Bibliothek. Free on-line texts of major German literary works by over 200 authors.
