Begin the Financial Aid Process

To become eligible for financial aid from Rutgers, the first step is to apply using the Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA)The Rutgers FAFSA federal school code is 002629.

Rutgers uses the FAFSA to develop your financial aid package. The types of financial aid available to you are based on your qualifications, financial need, and the funds available to the University. All candidates who file the FAFSA are considered for all funds for which they are eligible. After the priority filing dates, funds are awarded on an as-available basis.

If you have submitted the FAFSA and would like to see if you have been awarded financial aid, you can check your financial aid status

Please note that international students (F-1 or J-1 visa holders) are not eligible by law for need-based financial aid.
