Founded in the 1920s, Rutgers–Camden began as an amalgam of the South Jersey Law School and the College of South Jersey. The combined schools became the Camden campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in 1950. Today, the campus boasts the nation’s first doctoral program in childhood studies, a new state-of-the-art law school facility, and a comprehensive four-year undergraduate business curriculum. Rutgers–Camden consistently earns high marks from students, graduates, employers, and such entities as U.S. News and World Report.

Rutgers–Camden is home to 15 NCAA Division III women’s and men’s intercollegiate sports teams. In 2006, the women’s softball team won the NCAA Division III National Championship, which marked the first NCAA national title for any Rutgers team during the past 60 years.
