The Rutgers–Camden Office of Sponsored Research provides critical services to faculty and administrators, including:

Information about Sources of Funding
We regularly review the Federal Register, Grants & Contracts Weekly, Federal Research Report, Aid for Education, and other publications and forward timely information to faculty members regarding possible grant opportunities. We provide assistance in identifying possible sources of funding, and we give training on SPIN (Sponsored Programs Information Network) and other computer databases of public and private funding opportunities. We disseminate information on internal awards, such as Grants-to-Obtain-Grants, offered by the Rutgers University Research Council.

Program Guidelines
We obtain and disseminate copies of current guidelines for many federal programs, and standard application packages for such agencies as the National Science Foundation and the Public Health Service, as well as State of New Jersey opportunities. We obtain guidelines for other federal and state programs and foundations and corporations and assist in interpreting these guidelines and other application materials.

Project Design
We provide consultation and assistance in the project design phase preceding the proposal preparation. We provide coordination and consultation in the design of campus-wide, multi-disciplinary, and/or inter-institutional projects.

Compliance
We advice applicants on, and provide assistance in obtaining information on, responsible conduct of research including issues involving human subjects, the protections of animals, conflict of interest, scientific misconduct, and more.

Proposal Preparation
We provide consultation and assistance in the preparation of proposals, including editorial assistance and critique of proposals

Budget Preparation
We provide consultation and assistance in all phases of proposal budget design, preparation, and presentation, as well as in completing all required federal budget forms, budget narratives, and assurances. The office also advises applicants as to current Rutgers policy on such matters as indirect costs and fringe benefits.

Agency/Foundation Contact and Follow-up
We provide personal contact with federal and state agencies, New Jersey Congressional offices, corporations, and foundations to establish liaison and explore funding opportunities, and to follow up on proposals. The office can arrange appointments with program officers in federal agencies for Rutgers–Camden faculty seeking to establish personal contacts. We can make arrangements for you to visit and use the facilities of the Rutgers University office in Washington, DC. We can assist in obtaining feedback and review comments on proposals submitted to federal agencies.

University Review and Endorsement
We can provide assistance in securing the necessary approvals – including official signatures – required on the Rutgers University Endorsement Form. The Office of Sponsored Research can approve proposal budgets and arrange for the Rutgers–Camden chancellor, as the official Rutgers institutional representative, to sign all agency forms.

Proposal Duplication and Transmittal
We can arrange for duplication and next day courier delivery of proposals to federal and state agencies, foundations, and corporations.
