Introduction

Rutgers students and faculty, along with alumni and staff, have served in the U.S. military since the American Revolution.

This year, as the new GI Bill takes effect, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, will welcome a growing number of National Guard and Reserve members and veterans returning from service in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. You, and those who will come home in the years ahead, have earned our respect, admiration, and support as you begin a new phase of your lives.

To help make your transition to college life as smooth as possible and your college experience rewarding and productive, we offer support to new and current student veterans and Reserve component personnel through a variety of programs, services, and resources on our three campuses

University College at Rutgers-Camden is the academic unit that is dedicated to supporting non-traditional and veteran students. As a participant of Servicemembers Opportunity College (SOC), we recognize the educational value of military training and experience. We will use the American Council on Education (ACE) college credit recommendations listed on your military transcript to determine college credit equivalencies at Rutgers-Camden. In most cases, ACE-recommended credits will be used to fulfill some of your free-elective requirements.

In order to receive college credit for your military experience, you must be enrolled through University College at Rutgers-Camden. If you have any questions, please visit our University College website.

If there is anything we can do to assist you in your transition to academic life at Rutgers-Camden, please feel free to stop by my office, located in Armitage Hall 365, or call me at (856) 225-6107.
