Professional Development Opportunities for Teachers

Rutgers University - Camden offers a variety of programs and courses to help teachers meet the professional development requirements. The Rutgers-Camden College of Arts and Sciences is an approved provider of programs that meet the professional development requirements.

  • Summer Session 2003 offers a wide array of graduate and undergraduate courses. Further information about courses and enrollment may be obtained from the Summer Session Web site, by phone (856-225-6098), or by mail: Summer Session Office, 321 Cooper Street, Camden, NJ 08102-1519.
  • Graduate Programs at Rutgers-Camden provide teachers with the opportunity to advance their careers with a master's degree. Rutgers-Camden offers master's programs in such diverse areas as biology, chemistry, English, history, liberal studies, nursing, mathematics, physical therapy, public policy and administration, social work, law and business. All programs (with the exception of physical therapy) offer evening classes for working professionals.   • Rutgers-Camden will be the southern New Jersey host for the Artist-Teacher Institute (ATI), sponsored by Arts Horizons. This program begins on July 21st and continues through August 1st.  Graduate credit is available through the Rutgers Graduate School at Camden.
  • Four professional development programs will be offered this summer, covering a wide variety of topics.  They include "By-Water-By-Land" Urban Ecology Workshop, Immigration and Ethnicity, Woman Suffrage and Suffragists, and The Sense of Place in Walt Whitman and Edgar Allen Poe.  Further details on each of these programs as well as registration information is available at the Summer Session site. 
  • The 17th Annual Summer Writers' Conference will be held from June 20th to June 30th.
