Outstanding Student Honored for Community Service

You would think graduating with a 4.0 would exhaust a student’s time and energy. But not Kwan Hui of Williamstown. Her impressive GPA didn’t quell her concerns for others, especially those struggling from Camden to Cambodia.

The recipient of the Edward J. Bloustein Community Service Award, Hui was recognized for her involvement with the student organization Rotaract that implemented an effective campaign to raise money and awareness of the landmine crisis in several countries including Bosnia, Cambodia, and Columbia. Hui also spent time with fellow students volunteering on various service projects in the City of Camden.

The double major in urban studies and political science will continue on at Rutgers-Camden, as part of the five-year dual bachelor’s and master’s in public administration degree program. But she’s already planning on furthering her academic experience by attaining another graduate or doctoral degree, possibly in Hong Kong.

“All of my professors, the opportunities, and services offered here at Rutgers—Camden have impacted my career paths and goals. I can talk to my professors one-on-one to determine the best way to reach my goals. I am grateful for this,” states Hui.

Hui will graduate at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, during Rutgers—Camden commencement ceremonies at the Susquehanna Bank Center.
