Center for Computational and Integrative Biology (CCIB): Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Science


The newly-created Center for Computational and Integrative Biology (CCIB) on the Rutgers University-Camden campus seeks broadly trained experimental and theoretical researchers for two tenure-track ASSISTANT PROFESSOR positions beginning Fall 2010. The CCIB is an interdisciplinary research center with participating faculty members from the departments of biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics (including statistics) and physics. In keeping with the CCIB's interdisciplinary thrust and Rutgers' appointment procedures, we seek two successful candidates who will hold tenure-track positions in two different home departments from among the following CCIB participating departments: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Science. The mission of the CCIB is to determine the quantitative organizational principles of complex biological systems, using interdisciplinary approaches. The CCIB will start new doctoral and Master's programs in Computational and Integrative Biology in 2010. Successful applicants will be expected to develop productive, well-funded research programs and should take a strongly collaborative approach consistent with the mission of the CCIB. The positions entail teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of the applicant's expertise. Ph.D. required and postdoctoral experience expected. The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Physical Chemistry at the rank of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR beginning Fall 2010. The successful candidate should be an experimentalist with a Ph.D. in Chemistry and postdoctoral experience. She or he will be expected to teach lectures and laboratories in Physical Chemistry, and establish a strong externally funded research group in Experimental Physical Chemistry involving graduate and undergraduate students. Rutgers-Camden is an ACS accredited department offering up to the Masters degree. The Department of History invites applications for the position of DIRECTOR OF THE MID-ATLANTIC REGIONAL CENTER FOR THE HUMANITIES AND ASSOCIATE/FULL PROFESSOR. Formed in 2002 with a challenge grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Center for the Humanities is an endowed center at Rutgers University-Camden. In addition to responsibilities for training advanced students in public history practice and teaching undergraduate courses in 19th and/or 20th century American history, the director should be prepared to generate programs and publications directed at humanities professionals in New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, as well as New Jersey, and help raise funds to support them. Ph.D. in American history or related field and experience teaching public history or working in the public humanities sector required. Candidates must have a record of scholarly achievement sufficient for tenure on appointment at Rutgers University. Preference for candidates with expertise in urban history and development. The Department of Philosophy and Religion invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR beginning Fall 2010, in the area of contemporary social and political philosophy. The successful candidate will teach four courses per year and will have the opportunity to teach at the graduate level in various interdisciplinary programs. Applicants should have a Ph.D., with the ability to teach in the areas of Social and Political Philosophy as well as Ethics and Contemporary Philosophy. The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice invites applications for a tenure track position of ASSISTANT PROFESSOR of SOCIOLOGY beginning Fall 2010. We seek candidates with a strong publishing record and an active research program who are committed to teaching. Administrative or service experience would be considered a plus. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in the Sociology major plus upper level courses in the candidate's area of expertise. A Ph.D. in Sociology is required. Candidates with teaching and research interest in urban sociology make an especially good fit with the college's commitment to urban, community-based, and applied research.
