H1N1 Virus Update

Rutgers–Camden continues to monitor the influenza A (H1N1) virus outbreak to ensure students' health and safety on campus. The campus is operating as normal.

Through its crisis management team, Rutgers–Camden is coordinating its monitoring efforts with city, county, and state officials, as well as with units charged with public health and safety for the entire Rutgers system, to ensure a coordinated approach should the need arise.

Students exhibiting flu-like symptoms are encouraged to contact their physician or visit the Student Health Services office. Faculty and staff members exhibiting flu symptoms should not come to work, and should consult with their personal physicians.

Students with chronic illnesses or health conditions are encouraged to register with Student Health Services to be kept apprised of services available to assist with their situations.

Currently, there are no changes to campus operations or activities. Should changes to campus status become necessary, we will communicate that information to you through our normal emergency notification procedures.

The Rutgers–Camden community is urged to prevent the spread of germs by following these everyday health protection measures:
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
  • Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
  • If you get sick with influenza, stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
