The Leadership and Professional Development Programs are designed to
prepare individuals with personal and professional development and organizational
understanding. The Center provides fellows with new skills and tools
to build urban communities.
The curriculum model designed by the center focuses on three core areas:
Personal/Professional Leadership, Organizational Savvy, and Team
Effectiveness. Training is delivered through seminars and experiential
learning opportunities such as simulations, case studies and group projects.
They cover a wide variety of topics and development areas which include:
Understanding
how leadership roles develop and become defined.
Improving organizational,
management, strategic planning and creative pe
problem solving
skills.
Understanding
how collaborating has become a primary skill in
managing change.
Handling diversity,
ethnic issues and political issues.
Enhancing self-awareness,
confidence, communication skills and effective
personal leadership styles.
Enhancing negotiation
skills and team effectiveness.
Fellows have opportunities to network, and exchange experiences while
developing leadership skills to empower their communities.
Our leadership curriculum is complemented through the use of
in-depth self-awareness tools and activities to enhance leadership capabilities
including seminars, case studies, and hands-on experiential activities.
