PSE&G Foundation President Vaughn McKoy visits Center, ELRA
September 16, 2010
Vaughn McKoy, the President of the PSEG Foundation, was the special guest of the Rutgers CSUCL on September 15th, when he visited Rutgers–Camden to learn more about the Early Learning Research Academy, which is currently fundraising to construct a new early childhood education facility in Camden.
Mr. McKoy and a group of executives from PSE&G met with CSUCL staff and with 90 preschoolers in the ELRA program, who will move into the ELRA building once it is constructed. The group also had the opportunity to witness the start of construction on Phase One of the new ELRA building that morning, as it began with demolition of two buildings to make way for ELRA.

As part of the visit, the group received a tour of both LEAP Academy school buildings on Cooper Street and had the chance to meet and talk with dozens of LEAP students from grades K-12. At the high school, Mr. McKoy met LEAP seniors in the Rutgers/LEAP Center for College Access and encouraged them to apply to Rutgers, where he completed his Bachelor’s (New Brunswick) and Law degree (Newark).
Following the tour Mr. McKoy had lunch with Rutgers CSUCL staff to discuss the ELRA project. He and his colleagues discussed the merits of the ELRA project and expressed their hope that the PSEG Foundation would be able to support it.
