Special Initiatives

In addition to its leadership initiatives, the CLC has several unique programs that target health and human services, mentoring, tutoring, and fundraising.  Below are a few of the Center’s most successful initiatives that are continuing to create opportunities for the children and residents of Camden. 

Rutgers/LEAP Gala
The Rutgers/LEAP Alfredo Santiago Endowed Scholarship Fundraising Gala is an annual fundraising event hosted by the CLC that raises money to support graduates of LEAP Academy University Charter School who are attending Rutgers University.

ASPIRE Mentoring
ASPIRE is a student mentoring program designed to provide Camden youth with the academic and socio-emotional support they need to excel in high school and advance towards graduation. 

YES Institute
YES Institute is a University-based Supplemental Education Service provider in New Jersey that specializes in providing tutoring and instructional support to students in Language arts and mathematics.

Project HELP
The Health Education Literacy Program (Project HELP) is a dual-language health education project designed to improve the “health literacy” of over 200 immigrant parents in Camden City and the health outcomes of their children. 

HOP Clinic
The HOP Clinic is a special partnership between Rutgers, LEAP Academy, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and Cooper Family Medicine to provide free primary healthcare for adults, children, and families in Camden City who lack health insurance.
