categories, behind her own school marks set in 2004. She had 262 kills
(274 is the mark from last season), 893 total attacks (1,120) and 354
digs (375). Maisto's 222 assists were third on the single-season charts.
The record was 368 by Clare Li in 2003.
Rutgers-Camden
records
second straight victory
CAMDEN - Sophomore outside hitter Julie Grochowski (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown)
collected 25 kills, five service aces, 36 digs, two assists and two solo
blocks to lead the Rutgers University-Camden women's volleyball team over
Bryn Athyn College of the New Church, 3-1, in a non-conference match here
Oct. 22.
The Lady Raptors won by scores of 30-27, 30-22, 27-30 and 30-16.
It was the second straight victory for Rutgers-Camden, which improves
to 2-17 overall, and marked the first time that the Lady Raptors have
recorded back-to-back wins in a program history which started in 2000.
Bryn Athyn falls to 6-4 with its second straight defeat.
Grochowski's 36 digs were one shy of the program's single-match record
of 37, set by Sue Nevins against Ramapo College Sept. 24, 2002.
The match also was another big one for Rutgers-Camden setter Karla Maisto
(Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional), who has junior eligibility but is a senior
academically. Maisto, who will graduate this year, was the lone honoree
as the Raptors celebrated Senior Day. She had nine kills, 34 assists,
16 digs and two blocked shots. She also added three service aces after
turning in a record-setting performance at Immaculata University Thursday
night in which she set the NCAA Division III five-game match record with
19 service aces.
With Rutgers-Camden trailing, 27-26, in the first game, sophomore outside
hitter Yara Khalil (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) rattled off four consecutive
service points to win the game. After the teams split the next two games,
the Lady Raptors clinched the victory in the fourth game.

for Rutgers-Camden volleyball
IMMACULATA, PA - Junior setter Karla Maisto (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional)

The Raptors won, 30-26, 30-20, 22-30, 18-30 and 15-0, with Maisto setting
an NCAA Div. III record with 19 service aces in a five-game match.
Rutgers-Camden's victory snaps its season-long losing streak and lifts
the Lady Raptors to 1-17. It also snaps a two-year losing streak of 31
matches. The Raptors dropped their final 14 matches last year following
a four-game win over Bryn Athyn College Sept. 29, 2004. Bryn Athyn also
happens to be the Raptors' next opponent, as Rutgers-Camden hosts that
team Saturday at 1 p.m.
Maisto was phenomenal in serving all 15 points in the final game, collecting
a program-record 35 service points overall in the match. The old program
mark of 26 service points was set by Clare Li against Rosemont College
Oct. 23, 2003. Maisto also finished with 19 aces in the match, setting
a program record by passing the 14 aces in a match by Katherine Maikoksoong
in that Sept. 29, 2004 competition against Bryn Athyn. Her 19 aces set
the NCAA Division III five-game match record, passing the mark of 18 set
by Montclair State's Tori Muller against Rutgers-Newark, Oct. 22, 1991.
Maisto, who improved her own single-season school record to 76 aces, also
had five kills, 37 assists, five digs and two solo blocks in the victory.

she accomplished Oct. 15 against St. Elizabeth, which tied the program
mark set by Joy Silver against St. Elizabeth (Oct. 19, 2002).
Grochowski added four aces, four blocks and 32 digs, tying for second
on the single-match school digs chart. The program mark of 37 was set
by Sue Nevins against Ramapo College (Sept. 24, 2002).
