Taiwan Lamb (1st season)
A familiar face in Rutgers-Camden athletics, Taiwan Lamb joins the
Rutgers-Camden coaching staff this spring as he completes his undergraduate
degree as a Criminal Justice major. Lamb plans to pursue his Masters
degree in Social Work.
Lamb was a four-year track letterman at Rutgers-Camden, who also earned
two cross country letters. He completed his Rutgers-Camden athletic
career over the winter as a member of the Scarlet Raptors' first indoor
track team, competing in the 55-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, the
long jump and the 4x400 relay. He set school records for the new program
in the long jump (20-2 at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational
Jan. 28) and as part of the 4x400 relay team (3:51.86 at the Frank
Colden Invitational Feb. 4).
Lamb ran cross country as a freshman in 2001 and last fall, where
he competed in three meets, posting his best 8K time of 51:34 at the
ECAC Championships Nov. 5.
A four-year captain and leader of the Rutgers-Camden track program,
Lamb was named the team MVP last spring after competing in the 100-
and 200-meter dashes, the long jump and the 4x100 relay.
Lamb helped establish the Rutgers-Camden track program's record in
the 4x100 relay (43.71) at the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships
on May 1, 2004. He also was tied for the school record in the 100-meter
dash (11.4) before teammate Raphael Fuentes lowered that mark to 10.99
at the same NJAC Championships.
Over the years, Lamb has competed in the sprint medley, the 4x400-meter
relay and the 4x110-yard relay, in addition to the 4x100, the long
jump and the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He also has been a member
of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at Rutgers-Camden.
A two-time outdoor and indoor track MVP for coach Michael Ramsey at
Atlantic City High School, Lamb served three years as captain of both
teams for the Vikings. He earned Most Improved honors in 1997, a sportsmanship
award in 1999 and also was an Honor Roll student in high school.
