GRADES AND TRANSCRIPTS

Grades represent the level of quality of the student's performance in a course and are reported by instructors to the Registrar at the end of each term by the following symbols:

Grades Definition Numerical Equivalent
A Outstanding 4.0
B+ 3.5
B Good 3.0
C+ 2.5
C Satisfactory 2.0
D* Poor 1.0
F Failing 0.0
TZ Student unknown to instructor or stopped attending without withdrawing;
(Dec. 1 - TZ grade will convert to an F)
IN Incomplete; will convert to an F by Sept 15 if coursework is not completed
NG If the course instructor does not submit a grade, a "No Grade" is administratively assigned. If the student does not resolve this by December 1, the grade will convert to an "F".
D* is NOT VALID for Graduate Courses

Grades will not be provided to students’ in-person nor will written term grade reports be issued. Official transcripts for summer courses will be processed at the end of the Summer Session in late August. To request a transcript or verification of enrollment, students may visit the following website: https://transcripts.rutgers.edu.

Student complaints about grades must be submitted in writing to the Course Instructor within 10 days. If unresolved at that level, the student should submit a grade complaint in writing to the Department Chair and the Summer Session Director.

SUMMER VERIFICATION OF ENROLLMENT
Full-time and part-time status is determined for the Summer Term only as:
Undergraduate Arts and Science, Undergraduate School of Business and MBA: 6.0 credits or more = Full-Time; 3.0 to 5.99 credits = Half-Time; less than 3.0 credits = Less Than Half-Time.
Graduate Arts and Sciences: 4.5 credits or more=FT (Full-Time); 3.0 to 4.4 credits =3/4T (Three-Quarter Time); 2.0 to 2.9 credits = HT (Half-Time); and less than 2.0 = less than Half-Time.
These credit totals reflect registration for the entire summer, and not the registration of each four or six week session. A student may request verification of their enrollment by contacting the Office of the Registrar.
